Torre dei Consorti

The Torre dei Consorti is an ancient tower in the historic center of Florence located in Lungarno Acciaiuoli. The tower is so called because of the factions, those groups of families affiliated, choosing as a chief component older, they shared the political choices in particular situations and helped themselves sometimes on special occasions such as weddings, ceremonies and more. The factions are the basis of the factions as the Guelphs and Ghibellines, which divided the city into opposing parties during the Middle Ages. In particular this tower belonged to eighteen families, for example to the Adimari, the Mannelli, the Belfredelli, the Vinciguerra.
