Torre degli Embriaci

The soaring Embriaci Tower, which belonged to Guglielmo "Testa di Maglio" (Hammerhead), conqueror of Jerusalem and Caesarea Maritima in the 11th century, is one of the few remaining family towers and is the only one that was allowed to maintain its height over 80 spans after a new regulation was introduced in 1296 to bring an end to the race between families to build the highest tower.
