Oval square built in the XVIII century as a market for butchers, fishmongers and oil vendors.Built in 1758, Piazza Nuova is the first example of trade centre in Romagna. The interior consists of arcades sorroundings an elliptical structure with a series of thirty round arches held by square pillars. The two entrances are marked by round arches and relief decorations on the frames.The porticoes are in bare bricks, while the square is paved with cobblestones.Piazza Nuova has always the ideal set for many kinds of events: recentely it has housed Summer seasons of films, theatre shows, cultural festivals, exhibitions and concerts.
