Museo Civico di Palazzo della Penna

The civic museum at the Palazzo della Penna is situated in the noble XVI Century residence of Ascanio della Penna, built on the ruins of an amphitheater and along the track of an ancient road, both dating back to Roman times, on the southern side it incorporates part of the mediaeval city walls. Restored in the early XIX Century, it was frescoed by the Umbrian Painter Antonio Castelletti, with themes inspired by Paris Myth. Of the same period are the ideal views in the Sala dei Paesaggi (landscape room), by the decorator and scenographer Pasquale Angelini.
