The Institute of Renaissance Studies began its activity in 1983. It is made up on a proposal of the "Europe of the Courts" to the leaders of Ferrara institutions (both local and ministerial) with the aim of studying, on original proposals developed by a scientific committee made up of internationally renowned scholars, the relationship between the courts of Northern Italy, especially of Ferrara, and the rest of Europe during the Renaissance. The projects are realized through high scientific value, data-based conferences and numerous publications, and have become essential for the study of the Renaissance.
